The JavaScript problems worth being good at
Most production JavaScript trouble is not syntax. It is event-loop starvation from synchronous work in a request handler, memory that grows because a listener was never removed, bundles that balloon after a well-meaning dependency, and cache invalidation nobody wrote down. Those are the failures I have spent 9+ years finding and fixing.
- Bundle discipline — code splitting, tree shaking, dependency budgets checked in CI
- Backpressure and queueing so a slow upstream degrades instead of collapsing
- Idempotent write paths, so a retry is never a duplicate charge or a duplicate lead
- Profiling on real traffic — flame graphs and Web Vitals over guesswork
